Tagum City in Davao del Norte once again captured the hearts of both locals and visitors with the lighting of its world-class Holiday Tree — now officially the tallest Christmas tree in the Philippines at an astonishing 231 feet (70 meters) tall.

Erected on the Tagum City Hall grounds, this towering festive structure was officially lit on November 21, 2025, continuing a beloved seasonal tradition that has grown bigger each year. At 29 feet taller than last year’s version, this year’s tree stands as a testament to the city’s creativity and festive spirit.
A Carnival of Lights and Joy
The 2025 Holiday Tree embraces a carnival-inspired design, adorned with 189 hot air balloon decorations, a Ferris wheel-style top, and dazzling light displays. Its illumination boasts thousands of bulbs, rope lights, and LED strips that animate the structure with 25 lighting channels and 138 unique combinations, creating an immersive nighttime spectacle.

Celebration of Community and Hope
More than just a monumental decoration, the lighting ceremony celebrates community togetherness, resilience, and hope — themes emphasized by both officials and spectators alike. Tagum City leaders described the tree as symbolic of light breaking through darkness and an emblem of joy for families after another challenging year.
The lighting event typically features family-friendly entertainment such as clowns, acrobats, and performances, while food bazaars and floral exhibits make the City Hall grounds a lively holiday destination.

A Growing Tradition
Tagum’s giant tree tradition has evolved over the years, progressively setting new height records — from earlier milestones of 172, 182, 193, and 195 feet in past years to this year’s record-breaking 231-foot monument.
For visitors, families, and photography enthusiasts alike, the towering Holiday Tree has become a must-see festive landmark, drawing crowds eager to experience the lights, take photos, and kick off the Christmas season in grand style.
