About Davao Drift Co.

The team at Davao Drift is very passionate about our home and the culture that is inspired by it. With this website we would like to highlight our cultural pride and elevate new talent of those who share our vision.

We Are Culture.

Our team is comprised of Filipinos and expats from around the world who love Davao, its people, and its heritage. Many expats have come to The Philippines from far and wide for our Christian conservative values, vibrant culture, and loving nature. They have families here, they attend church with us, and they invest in the future of this amazing country. It is only natural that some expats speak for and with us, and we give them a platform to do so.

If you have ever wondered how the world views Davao, look no further. Our content is a perfect fusion of perspectives from both Southeast Asia and the West.

Meet The Team

Marco Reyes, Founder

Marco Reyes is a Filipino-American media producer and cultural strategist born and raised in Davao City of a Filipino father and mother of Dutch-American descent.

Raised between two worlds, Marco has spent the past decade working behind the scenes in American digital media — helping creators build audiences, structure shows, and turn online attention into sustainable businesses. His work spans content strategy, production workflows, and brand positioning across multiple platforms.

A graduate of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, Marco has collaborated with several high-profile creators and production teams. Despite his success in the U.S., Marco considers Davao City his true home and has begun building his empire here remotely in order to have a soft landing upon his return. His connection to the city’s evolving culture, nightlife, and creative energy is what led him to help build Davao Drift — a platform dedicated to spotlighting both Filipino and expat emerging creators, documenting local culture, and shaping the next generation of digital voices.

At Davao Drift, Marco focuses on:

  • Identifying and mentoring new content creators
  • Covering Davao and national culture through a modern lens
  • Bridging Filipino creativity with global media standards
  • Building infrastructure — not hype — for sustainable creator success
  • His philosophy is simple: culture doesn’t wait for permission — it’s built by people willing to show up and execute. Western weirdness has taken hold of The Philippines in recent years, and he wants to assist in rebooting The Philippines back to “factory settings”.

Mike Fluke, Content Creator

Mike Fluke is a Dutch-Canadian content creator primarily based in Davao City. He’s lived in The Philippines since 2016, although he has spent the last 15 years living and working across Asia.

Pulling together Western ‘systems thinking’ and Southeast Asian lived experience, Mike brings a rare long-term perspective to expat life, digital media, and online business in the region. Professionally, Mike is a veteran content creator and is best known for building passive income through marketing performance, audience trust, and long-form content — not hype cycles.

Mike was formally educated in computer science at Concordia University in Montreal, a background that continues to shape his systems-first, execution-driven approach to media. For Davao Drift, Mike serves as a editor, reporter, strategist, web developer, and YouTube personality.

At Davao Drift, Mike focuses on:

  • Documenting Davao through an unfiltered, ground-level lens

  • Translating local culture for a global audience without distortion

  • Building monetized media infrastructure, not vanity platforms

  • Bridging Western operational discipline with Philippine realities

Our philosophy is straightforward: attention is earned, systems matter, and culture is shaped by those willing to stay, build, and tell the truth over time — not those passing through.
